Average, predictable fare in Harbour Town. Nothing special, but okay in a pinch. Does have decent non-seafood alternatives. PROS: Busy staff does a good job Good entertainment Okay food Location/Outdoor seating CONS: Uninspired menu High (but not crazy) price for what you get

We had a nice time sitting at the bar with Sam as our bartender. The boats were pulling in and getting cleaned off as we watched. It was cool!

Just don't. Sure eating outside on the water is nice but other than a well mixed cockatiel there wasn't much redeeming about this overpriced tourist Mecca. Up charges galore on the menu and prices were not commiserate with food quality. Limited menu with nothing outstanding. Sure you can enjoy a $14 wrap with chips as your side item. But why should you when there is massively better fare just a mile or two away. Eating at the Sea Pines plantation is a mistake.

Not the worst meal I have ever had, but this place definitely stays around because of the location (on the harbor, in Harbor Town, overlooking the 18th green). Most of the seating is outside, and they have live entertainment every night (think cruise ship). They must have trouble attracting local workers - most of the staff is apathetic. Our server, Kelsey, was an exception and worked well for our large group. Alyssa, the manager, also stopped by to check on us. She was happy to refill water glasses. But most of the reviews are right: the service sucks. The food is a bit high for what it is, but it is not terribly expensive. Lots of entrees under $20, but don't expect anything special or making wanted you to come back for. Drink menu is in the $10 range and both were good that I had (Long Island tea and Moscow Mule). Lots of wines by the glass. It also has a decent kids menu - definitely kid friendly.

Only reason this is getting three stars is the slow service and how pricey it is. After touring the lighthouse, my family and I sat out on the covered Quarterdeck patio which was quite enjoyable. Our server I think was disappointed that we didn't order cocktails to up his tip, and in the course of an hour we only got one water refill (for a table that had just been in the sweltering lighthouse). Between four of us we split the calamari, the swordfish wrap, and the flounder melt. All of the food was delicious, but the clear winner was the melt with the lemon caper aoli. The food was absolutely the best part of the experience (that and the ambiance). I would definitely go back, once I mentally prepare myself to spend almost $20/plate for lunch before drinks.

Good, average at best food. But, good is the enemy of great. Four stars for the location. Second floor view is great. The atmosphere on the patio is great, live music real helps you get in that "chill & cocktail" mode.

We spend about one week a month in Harbortown and eat at quarterdeck (lower level inside)) once during that time. After our cocktail we usually share one of their large ($12.) wedge salads. This time it was a pathetic small salad with a small piece of lettuce surrounded by ingredients on the side as well as dressing on the side. We would at least asked for more salad dressing but the waitress never came back until later. I guessed correctly that there was a new chef. The fish taco was good and came with soggy French fries. My wife wanted more water but the waitress was not available so I gave her some of mine. Nice location if that's what you are looking for.

The views are good, the music (when we were there) is great, the food is not so good. Rather greasy, uninspired. You're here for the views.

This is your typical dime a dozen restaurant, with pizza and chicken fingers on the kid's menu, and margaritas and fish tacos for the adults. The food was ok, nothing great. They get 3 stars, it is convenient, but that's about all I have to say about this place. To sum it up in one word: "meh".
(3)J. K.
Surprised by all negative reviews. Everything was excellent. Fried green tomatoes stack with crab, so tasty. PO boy burger great with so tasty French fries. Not exactly healthy diet but this is olde south.
(4)Kevin W.
Very good find. Great atmosphere and good food. Decent prices too.

The service here is terrible. Got our drinks after 30 minutes and after food, had to get silverware from the adjacent table. The food was marginal at best. Giving them one star for the sunset... Or maybe I should give God five stars!
(1)Heather F.
Food was pretty good, nothing amazingly special BUT you can't beat the location, right on the water looking out over the 18th green of harbour town golf links! We started with the calamari which wasn't my favorite but then had the nachos and the crab cake sandwich as meals and they were great!
(3)Jules R.
Loud music at the outside eating area. Singer used a microphone & ppl were only seated 10 feet away. Salmon was good & burgers not too bad. Crabcakes have coleslaw on top but not mentioned in menu. Flies are bad if you eat outside though.
(3)Sandy K.
This is a just so-so place. Only one visit, and had to send meal back as what the server brought wasn't what was ordered. When it finally arrived, it was cold.
(1)Tina P.
food is ok to bad really. We had a great server but waited over 45 minutes for food with starving kids. Other tables who were seated WELL after us had food and were finished prior to our receiving our orders. Manager was not apologetic (all that I expected was an apology) there are much better places to eat on HH too bad they have one of the best locations and not the food or consistent service to match.

Good food, but nothing exceptional. Had it not been for the beautiful scenery (right on the water at Harbour Town... fabulous view of yachts, etc.), I would give it 3 stars. Our group of 3 had lunch here on a recent Friday afternoon. The outdoor deck, scenery, breeze, etc. was a lovely respite from the throngs of tourists everywhere at Harbour Town. Our waitress (Beth) was very attentive and personable. My food was very good, as was my son's. My mother didn't think her lunch was good however. But, as mentioned before, the yacht-and-people watching are excellent!

This review has 2 sides. My dinner was delicious but my daughter ordered the kids grilled shrimp dish and that was ridiculous. I start with my meal. I had the grilled swordfish dinner ($28) with mashed potatoes and green beans (definitely frozen and not fresh). The fish itself was good...nothing I'd write home about though. My daughter offered the kids grilled shrimp dinner ($10) and received a plate with literally 4 small shrimp and a fruit cup. We looked at it and our jaws dropped. When I asked the waiter if maybe their was a mistake and pointed out that 4 tiny shrimp were in her $10 plate, he said that was the meal. Needless to say, I shared my meal with her as did my husband otherwise the child would have starved. My other daughter orders the kids Beef tenderloin tips plate (also $10). This plate was generous in size but the beef had absolutely no flavoring at all...no salt, no pepper nothing. Just beef. I thought this place was overpriced for the quality of food served. It's possible to cook simple and fresh and still have flavor. It's called salt, lemon & pepper.

Horrible. Every single dish. The worst Fried Green Tomatoes we've ever tasted, a disgusting warm tasteless Caesar salad, a chicken sandwich that tasted like rotten fish, and buttermilk chicken that was chewy, tough and terrible. Quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had.
(1)Susanna F.
This place is really about the view. Keep that in mind. The food is just okay. Our server was good and as attentive as she could be. I can definitely do better peal and eat shrimp at home.
(3)Kurt B.
Poor menu, literally offered about 10 items including appetizers. Menu was extremely overpriced. They did have an extensive wine and drink selection and view was right over the water. The staff was not accomidating. I would not recommend this to anyone.
(2)Dicknose M.
Suffice it to say that The Quarterdeck serves up low grade dog food at a bad price. Calamari = terrible. Shrimp cocktail = terrible. Kids pasta = inedible. Oysters = size of small loogies. If you want to quaff some brews and listen to some live music with outstanding scenery, then by all means give it a shot. Gormandize elsewhere first, or pay the price!

This restaurant's major strength is that it sits right next to the lighthouse near the heart of Harbour Town. The seating has some decent views of the marina. The service was fine. Not terrific, not terrible. The food was the problem. It was edible, but left a lot to be desired. I had a Cobb salad for lunch with shrimp. The avocado tasted like it was bathed in lemons, draining in of any natural flavor. I actually had a tough time finishing the avocado, and I'm a huge fan. My wife had she crab soup and pulled pork. Her food was a little better than mine, but nothing special. There are better places on the island to get all of these items.

Extremely poor service. Very long wait times, we kept having to flag the server down or asking servers that passed us by to find him. It took 15 minutes to get the check from our server after we finished eating. One of our glasses had lipstick still on the rim, then they brought us coffee with a fly in it. One persons (out of a party of six) dish was brought to the table significantly later than the rest of us. The manager stopped by our table to check on us. We mentioned the issues about the coffee and water glass, his only response to me was "but you got a new coffee, right?" Not once did the server apologize about the lipstick or coffee, but only acknowledged the wait time for the dish. When I brought this up to the manager, his explanation was "we can't really help that". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was also quite odd that the server didn't take our glasses to be refilled. But rather the practice was to fill up a plastic cup and then come to the table with that to fill the glass. It makes you question if this was leftover from someone else's. Service issues aside, from a food perspective, not so great. I ordered the seafood platter, a mix of fried seafoods. The oysters and fries were hot, but the shrimp was cold. The fish were smaller pieces than the frozen stuff you could purchase in the freezer aisle at the market. A member of our table had a fish sandwich, it was horrible portion. One half of the sandwich had about an ounce of fish. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone expecting any service or quality of food. The views are nice, but that's about it.
(1)Jennifer B.
Food was really good. Kids meals are varied and come with 2 sides and dessert, so the kids were happy. Our server was nice, informative and helped us navigate the menu to choose what was best for us! Kinda chilly day so we didn't get to enjoy the outside atmosphere. Food came quickly and all at the same time for 7 of us is an accomplishment in itself.
(4)Kevin L.
A swing and a miss. If you are already in Harbor Town and want to stop in and listen to a bit of live music and grab a drink - it's a great little stop. The menu however is a complete miss. The Crab Bisque was more like a dip. It was more like a dip consistency. The Calamari was rubbery and the Shrimp Cocktail was a complete rip off at $10. We opted to finish our bottles of wine and dine elsewhere.
(2)Jeremy B.
You can substitute fries with a salad, which I did for $3, and it was not worth it. The portion was tiny even though the $4 side salad has 3 times as much. The fish sandwich for $17 was small. The chicken sandwich was decent, and the waitress was nice and got us good sized salads after awhile, with no help from the manager who didn't know much. Good music and outside atmosphere though. Overall, I would only go here if you come to see the sunset and dolphins, and have nowhere else to eat.
(2)Elizabeth K.
Terrible and overpriced. Food was very bland and the waiter was awful and took forever. We ordered an appetizer that never came. They gave us two empty ketchup bottles in a row...you are clearly paying for the view, and you are really paying for it. A kid's meal is about $11!?!?! Save your money and go elsewhere.
(1)Rohit S.
Great place, with great patio seating (beautiful view of the marina) and even better food. All things we ordered were delicious - Crab bisque, fish melt, crab cake sandwich to name a few. The drinks we ordered were ok. Must go place for lunch if you visit sea pines on a beautiful day :-)
(5)April P.
Pros: nice view, laid back atmosphere, good live music. We didn't think it was too loud as some other reviewers. Actually we enjoyed it very much - probably saved this restaurant from ending up on our do not go back list. Good wings, oysters, and shrimp cocktail. Like good bar food. Cons: dishes are hit or miss. My kids burgers were burnt to unedible. Seems like there is lack of management despite two manager looking guys leaning on the bar chatting. The service was up there with horrible. Bottom line, this place could be awesome. As long as you know what dishes to order and with low expectations for the service, it can be enjoyable. Really do like the outside setting with the music. Just wish the servers were better as was food. Good (top shelf) margarita.
(3)D M.
Pretty decent food and good service. Food was a little pricey even for a resort town. Drinks were fairly priced.
(3)Michael C.
Very awesome patio area bar! Definitely worth checking out after a long day out in the sun. Service is laid back, so don't expect chop chop so just enjoy your drink, smell of the ocean, and views of the ocean. My brother in law went with me and he had a cheeseburger which he said was good. Definitely check it out! Cheers!
(4)Paul C.
The view is great from the shadow of the Harbour Town lighthouse. We had lunch and my wife and I shared a fried bologna sandwich. The bologna is about a quarter of an inch thick and it is served on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. Where else can you get a fried bologna sandwich? We thought the sandwich was good, and the outdoor deck was a great place to enjoy the scenery of the marina and bay.
(4)Jeff S.
Food not great, other than the crab soup. Felt kinda dirty, but maybe that is due to the high volume they do. And my legs got chewed by gnats while I ate outside, and I itched for the next four days.
(2)Katie S.
Our party was ignored for fifteen minutes after being seated and the music was too loud for conversation. I order the crab cake sandwich and it came with fried green tomatoes and cole slaw on the sandwich. I did not like the combination... It was too sweet. The calamari was spicy and delicious.

Depends what you are looking for. If you want I nice view, bar food / burgers / appetizers I would think it would be great. If you're looking for a decent dinner as we were it was a let down. First of all we sat outside which you would think would be a nice thing. They sat us next to a wall and the live musician was too loud. I'm sorry but I can handle decent loud music, but this guy just overwhelmed the area. We moved to a table away from the wall but it wasn't much better. Next came the service. First thing after waiting for about 15 minutes the waitress said is "I just got slammed with 3 tables". That's the level of service we got. We appeared to be the only table ordering entrees and I wish she would have said "honey this ain't the place to order dinner". We ordered a couple of appetizers that took 20 minutes or so to get, after she stopped by a couple of times and said "they haven't brought those out yet". The table next to us had ordered appetizers and salads and were done with their meal by the time our appetizers showed up. Through the whole meal not one apology. The food was actually pretty decent, but disappointing to spend that kind of money in that environment. Maybe things are different inside, but who wants to sit inside at Harbour Town? They need to figure out their identity and fix this place... We also ate at the Burger place across the way and the service was lousy there too. The burgers were good, the music was better, but the wait staff could care less.
(2)Brian W.
Actually 2.5 stars. This was good for what we were looking for at the time. A decent lunch, with nice setting, but not too expensive (save that for dinners). Our waiter was very friendly and accomodating. Definitely a very nice setting, we were outside on the deck overlooking the water, with a view of the pelicans lined up on the pier, and we had great weather for late November. And it's next to the lighthouse and in the nice Harbor area. I had a seafood wrap sandwich, and it was good. The rest of my family was reasonably pleased with their lunch. Not great, but no complaints.
(3)Christine P.
Eh. Affordable. We went in thinking we'd get a Po Boy but that was only the lunch menu. My cilantro shrimp were quite good and light, so I was happy. My daughter was sufficiently pleased with her crab cake sandwich. My husband, avoiding shellfish, was forced to get the fish and chips, which was passable. The fish was a little too breaded and the fries were clearly the frozen fries everyone serves. The live music was a little too loud fo dinner conversation and the wait staff was ok, nothing great shakes. Maybe we'll go back. Or not. Nothing to get real excited about.

Went to The Quarterdeck for dinner on a weeknight. It looked like a storm was about to blow in and the hostesses were very accommodating in finding us an indoor window table, but we opted to take our chances on an outdoor table with a great view of the harbor entrance and Calibogue Sound. Service was prompt and attentive. Ordered the chef's special shrimp and grits, which were not hot, skimpy on the shrimp, and overall pretty mediocre, especially considering the premium price. Beer only in bottles and priced at $4.50 per for local brews. But it is tourist-driven Harbor Town after all, so some inflated pricing is to be expected. The view was great, though, and the storm passed off to the north. I'd try it again for the atmosphere but would stick with some of the more basic (and reasonably priced) items on the menu.
(3)C. P.
Lousy Service, Food nothing special, views were very nice and the drinks were reasonable with a good price. Have some drinks here and go to the Crazy Crab for a much better meal and service.
